I don't know any digital mixer where you can edit audio on. again, these kind of things vary wildly from mixer to mixer most modern mixers will receive midi so you can set a groovebox or synth to send midi messages to change scenes or control various aspects of the mixer. of course it's not as convenient as a daw automation. you can also quickly flip through scenes on most mixers or setup soft buttons to go to a next/previous scene or jump to a specific one. the slightly advanced options would be fade time between scenes, automatic scene switching based on time or other such options like integration with qlab. they are designed so you can save specific settings or snapshots if you will of different mix states.
most people who are not doing it for a living never use this though. You can create automations on digital live mixers.
